About The Role

At Govinda’s Catering, we believe food should nourish the body, mind and soul, creating positive experiences through wholesome, thoughtfully prepared vegetarian meals.

We’re seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join Avanti Schools Trust Central Team at Avanti Fields, helping us deliver this vision through excellent kitchen support, high standards of hygiene and efficient service.

This is an opportunity to play an important behind-the-scenes role in creating a clean, organised and welcoming environment for our school community.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing Multi Academy Trust with schools based in London, the midlands and the South West of England. All Avanti schools provide pupils with an outstanding education rooted in the inclusive and distinctive Avanti Schools ethos of educational excellence, character development, and spiritual insight.

What will you do?

  •  Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen, food preparation, packing and storage areas, including moving equipment and furniture as required.
  • Support the kitchen team with food preparation, meal packing and the timely provision of meals and refreshments for students, staff and hospitality events.
  • Receive, handle, store and rotate deliveries and stock, ensuring accurate stock control and the correct management of waste and recycling.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chef Manager and wider catering team to ensure the smooth, efficient and consistent delivery of a high-quality catering service.
  • Follow all food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures, including temperature controls and risk assessments, and promptly report any hazards, defects or near misses, while being physically able to undertake manual handling and heavy lifting.

Why should you apply

Avanti exists to help each person become a well-rounded human being through intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, and so make the world a better place.

  • You will be working in a fantastic environment, with:
  • Great opportunities for professional development
  • LGPS pension scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • O2 discounts, Specsavers corporate eye test vouchers
  • Eligible for NUS Card and CSSC membership
  • Well-being programs (retreats, yoga, wellness apps)
  • Cycle-to-work Scheme

What are we looking for?

  • Good Organizational Skills
  • The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
  • Ability to follow strict instructions in a systematic and consistent manner
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
